Join tables by key

Getting ready…

Join tables by key User guide

Match rows using a shared identifier.

Instructions

  1. Import both tables and select their worksheets. You can also start with New table or paste CSV/TSV in the CSV tab. The first row contains column names.
  2. Choose each key column and whether to keep left rows, only matches or rows from both tables.
  3. Join, review the resulting rows and columns, then save CSV or XLSX.

Example

Input / settings

First IDs: 1,2 · second IDs: 1,3 · left join

Result / checks

ID 1 matched · ID 2 retained

Matching keys are joined. Duplicate keys can expand the output into multiple matching combinations. Empty keys do not match each other.

Please note

XLSX / XLS / CSV / TSV / ODS → CSV / XLSX

  • Matching keys are joined. Duplicate keys can expand the output into multiple matching combinations. Empty keys do not match each other.
  • Duplicate column names receive suffixes. Tables are limited to 500,000 cells; workbook formulas use stored values rather than being recalculated.
  • Files and entered content are processed in this browser. Save results before closing the page.
